Never Let Fears take place of one’s Dreams

Tatiana is one of the most outstanding, enthusiastic and applied students of the Basic Sewing, Household Items technical course.

At 29 years old she has a clear vision of what she wants to do and where she wants to go. She began her studies at CEVB never having touched a sewing machine and terms like “threading, basting, gathering” were unknown to her. At first, she struggled, and her discouragement led her to thinking about giving up on her goal. Though her discipline and desire to improve helped her overcome her doubts and once she was able to thread the machine on her own and manage the basic stitches, there was no going back.

To get to CEVB in Diriamba, she had to travel very rocky roads and learned how to ride a motorcycle in order to attend classes and not depend on her husband to drive her. There were days where she had to cross overflowing rivers and she brought clothes to change out of her wet ones. Despite all this she did not give up her desire to learn and undertake.

Since getting a loan for her own Brother machine, she is able to perfect her technique and sew her own garments at home. She is eager to start sewing module 2 in order to become her community’s seamstress. She appreciates the opportunity provided by CEVB where women in vulnerable situations can grow, dream and generate a source of sustainable income in their homes.
